Robert A. Olstein is Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Olstein Capital Management and serves as Head Portfolio Manager of the Olstein All Cap Value Fund and Co-Portfolio Manager of the Olstein Strategic Opportunities Fund. Mr. Olstein has long been recognized as one of the financial community's most astute research analysts and money managers. Widely acknowledged as a leading expert in corporate disclosure and reporting practices, in 1971 Mr. Olstein co-founded The Quality of Earnings Report, which pioneered the use of forensic accounting techniques to identify positive or negative factors affecting a company's future earnings power.
In 1981, Mr. Olstein began managing assets at Smith Barney (formerly Shearson Lehman) employing research and analytical methods developed at The Quality of Earnings. From 1981 to 1995, Mr. Olstein served as Senior Portfolio Manager/Senior Vice President at Smith Barney, where he managed individual and institutional accounts. Mr. Olstein founded Olstein Capital Management, L.P. and launched The Olstein All Cap Value Fund in 1995.
Mr. Olstein is a past recipient of the Financial Analysts Federation (now CFA Institute) Graham & Dodd Scroll Award, (1973) and is a widely recognized expert on corporate reporting and disclosure practices. Mr.Olstein appears frequently in leading print and broadcast business media that seek his views on corporate reporting, accounting practices, valuation techniques and activist investing. Mr.Olstein has authored articles in The CPA Journal, Bloomberg Personal Finance and Financial Planning on the role of forensic statement analysis when analyzing and valuing companies. He has also a frequent speaker providing commentary on financial reporting issues that affect securities analysis and company valuations. Mr. Olstein holds an M.B.A. in Accounting and B.A. in Mathematical Statistics from Michigan State University.
Eric R. Heyman, Executive Vice President, Portfolio Manager, and Director of Research of Olstein Capital Management and Co-Portfolio Manager of the Olstein Strategic Opportunities Fund and Olstein All Cap Value funds, joined Olstein Capital Management in January 1996, within months of the firm's inception. Eric has served as a Research Analyst since 1999 and was named Director of Research in 2005. He has been Co-Portfolio Manager of the Olstein Strategic Opportunities Fund since its inception in November 2006 and was named Co-Portfolio Manager of the Olstein All Cap Value Fund in October 2008. Previously he was an Accountant with Norstar Energy, a subsidiary of Orange and Rockland Utility. Mr. Heyman holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Pace University.
Timothy S. Kang, Senior Vice President and Senior Research Analyst, joined Olstein Capital Management in April 2006. Previously he held the position of Vice President/Equity Research Analyst with Citigroup Asset Management covering Asia ex-Japan financial companies, and assisted in covering U.S. banks. Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Kang was an Assistant Vice President at PPM America, where he was a member of the high-yield bank loan team working on private bank loan transactions in all industry sectors. Before that, he was a Senior Auditor at Arthur Andersen, L.L.P. Mr. Kang holds a M.S. in Accountancy from DePaul University and a B.S. in Speech with a concentration in Economics from Northwestern University in Evanston.
John D. Sullivan, Jr., Vice President and Research Analyst, joined Olstein Capital Management, L.P., in June 2005 after serving as a Research Intern with the firm while completing his undergraduate degree. Mr. Sullivan holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Economics from Fordham University. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of CFA Institute and New York Society of Security Analysts.
Richard Vitale, Head Trader, joined Olstein Capital Management in January 2005. Previously, Mr. Vitale was an Options and Equity Trader for OTA, L.L.C., a leading trading and research firm serving institutional investors. He also served as a Financial/Budget Analyst at TRW. Mr. Vitale holds a B.A. in Accounting from Rutgers University.
Joan Tong, Vice President and Research Analyst, joined Olstein Capital Management in December 2007. Prior to joining Olstein, Ms. Tong was an Equity Analyst at Sidotti & Company where she received Top Software Analyst Recognition in the 2004 "Best on the Street" survey in The Wall Street Journal. Prior to Sidotti, Ms. Tong served as a Senior Consultant in the Valuation Services Practice Group at KPMG Consulting; as a Financial Analyst at Bear Stearns & Co. and as an Auditor at KPMG LLP. Ms. Tong received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan with a concentration in Finance and Accounting. She is a CFA charterholder, a Certified Public Accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, CFA Institute and New York Society of Security Analysts.
Clark Thompson, Trader, joined Olstein Capital Management, L.P., in May 2000. Mr. Thompson previously worked in several brokerage operations positions with Smith Barney and Sun America Securities. Prior to his industry experience, Mr. Thompson served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Erik K. Olstein, President and Chief Operating Officer, has been with
Olstein Capital Management since its 1995 inception. Mr. Olstein oversees
the daily operations of the firm's investment research, portfolio
management, trading, client development and relationship management
functions. Mr. Olstein also serves as an officer and trustee of the firm's
affiliated mutual fund complex, Olstein Funds. Previously, he worked as a
securities trader for Lehman Brothers. Before entering the financial
industry, Mr. Olstein served as an aviator in the United States Navy. He is
a Trustee of the Trinity-Pawling School and Trustee and Treasurer of the U.S
Naval Service Personal Educational Assistance Fund Inc. Mr. Olstein also
serves as a Trustee and President of The American Friends of the National
Museum of the Royal Navy (UK). He holds a B.A. in Political Science from The
George Washington University.
Michael Luper, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has been with Olstein Capital Management since its 1995 inception. Mr. Luper oversees the financial, operational and compliance functions of Olstein's corporate structure and its affiliated mutual fund complex, where he serves as Treasurer and Head of Accounting and Operations. Due to his extensive accounting background, he also helps the portfolio management team research potential short sales for the firms' portfolios. Mr. Luper previously served as a staff accountant with J. H. Cohn & Company, the 17th largest accounting and consulting firm in the U.S. He holds a B.A. in Accounting from The College of New Jersey. Mr. Luper is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Investment Company Institute.
Timothy Ermi, Senior Vice President, Director of Business Development, joined Olstein Capital Management in July 2004. Previously, he was with Credit Suisse Asset Management, where he served as Vice President/Strategic Account Management and as Vice President/Product Development for CSAM's predecessor firm, BEA Associates. Previously, Mr. Ermi served as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Dabney Resnick Asset Management and Director of Marketing and Strategic Planning for Third Avenue Funds and its affiliated brokerage firm, MJ Whitman. He holds a B.A. in English from Villanova University and an M.B.A. in Marketing from New York University's Stern School of Business.
James Kimmel, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, joined Olstein in June 2004. Previously, he served as Of Counsel in the
Investment Management Group of Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, L.L.P., and
as Vice President and Assistant Counsel/Corporate and Securities Group in
the legal department of Summit Bancorp. Mr. Kimmel began his legal career as
an associate in the Business and Finance Department of Morgan Lewis &
Bockius, L.P. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Haverford College and a J.D.
and M.B.A. from the University of Michigan. Mr. Kimmel is member of the
Pennsylvania Bar and is registered a In-House Counsel in New York. He is a
member of the American Bar Association and formerly served as Vice Chairman
of the Investment Products Committee, Banking Law Section of the New Jersey
Bar Association. Mr. Kimmel is a member of the Investment Company Institute,
the National Association of Compliance Professionals and the Association of
Corporate Counsel, where he serves on various committees.
Mark Zichelli, Vice President, Regional Sales, joined the firm in May 2001. Previously he conducted third-party sales for Jundt Associates, a growth-oriented investment management firm offering mutual funds and alternative investments, and Societe General Asset Management (now known as First Eagle SoGen). Mr. Zichelli began his career as a Financial Consultant for Shearson Lehman Brothers in 1991 and, following its acquisition by Smith Barney, served as Regional Sales Manager for Smith Barney Asset Management. Mr. Zichelli holds a B.S. in Economics from Fordham University.
Lisa Pippa, Compliance Officer, joined the firm in June 2002. Ms. Pippa previously served as a Senior Compliance Consultant with New York Life Insurance Company. She graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Finance from Mercy College.
James C. Dolce, Vice President, Regional Sales, joined the firm in September 2008. Previously he served as an Internal Wholesaler for Legg Mason & Co., and a Sales Liaison for Citigroup Asset Management. Mr. Dolce holds a B.S. in Marketing from Boston College.
David W. Lyness, Internal Product Specialist, joined the firm in August 2014. Previously he served as a Senior Options Broker at BCG Partners. Mr. Lyness holds a B.A. in Business Management from Gettysburg College.
